Our One Year Anniversary Part 3

Our One Year Anniversary Part 3

We recently had our 24-month dating anniversary (July 2020). This year we didn’t go on an adventure due to Covid19 safety concerns, but had a fun time connecting in more Covid-friendly ways. Last year, however, we had such a nice time at Seaside, OR (July 2019) celebrating 12 months of dating that we thought we’d share some more pictures and stories of the fun!

THE SKY / WATER

Our unicorns loved the Ocean. It’s breathtaking to see the beautiful water and rich blue sky. While we rode bikes on the sand, we discovered it’s much easier to ride closer to the ocean where the sand is packed and firmer.

There were fun shapes etched in the sand along our path as we rode the bikes. UFOs couldn’t have done a better job with the shapes. For real! Fiona & Arnold felt the shapes reminded them of tattoos like on the character Maui on the Disney film Moana.

TOURISTIES

Seaside has all of their main tourist shops packed into a few blocks. They have some just the right things. A carousel, food, shops with chocolates and other sweets… and gifts like… … … UNICORNS here, there and everywhere. Even a unicorn kite. Obviously!

We saw some fun looking multi-person bikes (Surreys) and even a gothic shop.

CONTRAST

We heard that this town has a really high property and robbery crime rate (one source confirms that while Seaside does have a high rate of crime especially compared to most of Oregon, it is on a downward trend). There were some pretty rough looking people hanging out a few blocks away from the main tourist area. They seemed like they might shake down unsuspecting unicorn owners for their spare change. We even witnessed a pretty heated exchange in one of the neighborhoods parallel to the promenade which runs through the main part of Seaside along the beach. Good thing we had our bikes, and unicorn magic, to get out of the vicinity quickly!

We also saw a guy at the edge of an alley that was making 2 marionettes dance to an old song called “You make me feel like dancing” and our unicorns invented a back story about the guy. Our unicorns made up this theory that the marionette guy gets a crowd distracted while a partner pulls you into the alley for a quick bag snatch. They have such active imaginations!
