Our First Waterfall
Waterfalls are Magical
Some magical places are just down the street. At least, that’s the case if you live in the Portland/Beaverton area near Adam. There is a hidden waterfall in Beaverton. If we had to guess, we’d say the majority of people that live or work within a mile of this waterfall don’t even know it’s there. And it’s no small waterfall. It. Is. Magnificent!
This TOP SECRET gem is a favorite local spot for both of our unicorns – Fiona & Arnold! There is a fancy wooden walkway from the street that leads to a breath-taking view of the falls. The height of the falls is about the same as the height of a house. The falls are nice and wide too. From the wooden viewing platform, you are higher than the top of the falls and can see the water traveling along a stream below you and leading to the right.
There are a few other places you can get to the waterfall from the street as well. One leads to the top of the falls and the other – you’ve guessed it – leads to the bottom. From the top you can walk across the waterfalls jumping from one large stone to another. Depending on the time of year you can walk across the top of the falls on these rocks without getting wet if you’re careful enough. But watch out… it can be slippery!
Once across there’s a rock ledge with another rock just below it as a footrest. You can sit and relax along this edge of the waterfall and as the water rushes over the side just to your right. So close you can dip your hands in the ice cold water as it rushes past. This makeshift rock seat is such a relaxing and exhilarating place. A chance to enjoy the calm peaceful sounds of the rushing water as you sit at the edge of this beautiful waterfall.
