Staying Connected While Seemingly World’s Apart

VIRUS

It’s been a couple months since the Covid19 Virus went viral & everyone was ordered to Stay Home and Stay Safe. Since then we have both been on zero hikes. But we’ve found several ways to stay connected during these crazy times.

READING

We started to buddy-read some books. We both read Foundling (Monster Blood Tattoo Book 1) by D.M. Cornish. This sci-fi adventure story involves a small orphan boy living in a world that has humans at war with monsters. We are now reading Lamplighter (Monster Blood Tattoo Book 2) by D.M. Cornish. Mostly we read on our own but try to read at about the same pace each week so we can chat about it. We have videoed while reading and it was a nice and relaxing time as well.

CONNECTING

We video chat nightly. It’s a great way to stay connected. Thanks for modern technology we don’t have to rely on memory to remember what each other looks like ;-)

SHOWS

We started to buddy-watch two TV shows before the quarantine hit. When new episodes of This Is Us are on we always watch them. What a great show! We have two other shows we watch regularly.

Amanda selected one of her favorite shows The Office. While it was on TV she was a regional manager for a virtual branch within Dunder Mifflin Infinity (NBC’s online game). Adam picked one of his favs Psych. He was delighted to learn that they’re making another TV Movie that’s scheduled to release this year (2020). We watch one show then the next time we watch the other. While watching we text laughing or cringing about the content of the shows. It’s been a lot of fun!

MOVIES

We’ve had several movie dates and buddy-watched them on Disney+ and Amazon. They include: Emma. (2020), Julie & Julia, Knives Out, Doctor Strange, Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle, Jumanji: The Next Level, Onward, The Muppets (2011), and Muppets Most Wanted (2014). All have been such fun films!

COLORING

We both have some coloring books. Amanda is a huge fan of the Muppets. Adam has adult coloring books of flowers and of New York City. We’ve had coloring sessions where we video and just relax and color. It’s like we’re in each other’s presence.
