Two Different Styles of Adventure Merge Into One

It went a little something like this: “Wanna go on an amazing date today? It’s TOP SECRET! I can’t tell you where we’re going.” // “Can you tell me the general area so I know how to dress and what to wear?” // “No. It’s too secret. That would spoil everything” // “I don’t know. I gotta know at least the basic general info.” // “Sorry to get your hope ups but I don’t know… I can say one thing. We’ll be in Beaverton and within a few miles of my place and it’s gonna be... Amaaaazing.”

We ended up going to the Beaverton location of Powell Books – the biggest bookstore in Portland & it’s local… we didn’t have to teleport to get there! Upon arrival I said, “Here’s today’s challenge: we are each going to buy a book – that we select – for the other person. What two books did we pick? Amanda picked Tracks by Louise Erdrich for Adam. Meanwhile, Adam picked Ultra Marathon Man by Dean Karnazes for Amanda. It was a fun time and helped us learn more about each other by reading a book that the other had enjoyed reading.

After our visit to Powells, we took a detour to a fairly unknown, yet perfectly lovely, urban waterfall. And (dah dum), we took our first “usie” together! It was a nice cherry on top of an otherwise lovely day.
